Carrara: CNA highlights the costs of hauling marble blocks

CNA Massa Carrara has highlighted the difficulties facing companies that specialise in hauling marble blocks. In a statement published on 30 October, the association described the investment needed for vehicles and the cost of exceptional-load permits.

CNA estimates that a road-ready vehicle can cost €220,000–€240,000, while an annual permit for a 48-tonne truck can reach approximately €3,500. The association calls for discussions with institutions to produce practical responses.

Editorially, the issue concerns a crucial link in the stone supply chain: the availability of specialist hauliers affects the movement of blocks from extraction areas to processing. The figures are the association’s estimates, not a general price list.
