In Reza Molai’s guide, Traonyx names the commercial category. USGS references provide geological context for travertine and calcareous onyx, including crystalline structures and layering.
A commercial name does not replace a sample’s petrographic description. These sources explain carbonate rocks; they do not identify quarries in the guide’s three areas.
USGS describes calcareous onyx as a dense crystalline carbonate, generally translucent and layered. This provides a useful reference for observing stone.
