Red travertine Simorgh exhibited at Mahallat
Hourgan reports on sculptor Hadi Javaher-Asar’s Simorgh at the eighteenth Mahallat stone fair. The Neyriz artist uses red travertine’s natural colour to evoke fire and sunlight in the 1.70-metre-high sculpture.
The artist identifies Azarshahr as the stone’s origin. Work began in Neyriz and continued at the exhibition.
